Said to have fighting ability rivaling a captain but continues to support Head Captain Yamamoto as lieutenant of Squad 1.

She is from the lower class noble clan, the Fon Clan. Reveres Yoruichi Shihoin, her predecessor and former superior.

Although possessing a gentle and mild-mannered personality, she is frightening when angered and commands the Soul Reapers’ respect.
She was the first to recognize Sosuke Aizen’s conspiracy during the turmoil involving the Soul Society and provide a solution.
She often guides Soul Reapers with her calm decision-making.

Once captain of Squad 5, he was Hollowfied and relegated to the World of the Living because of a conspiracy by Sosuke Aizen.
There, he became the leader of the Visored, where he showed a compassionate side to his fellow members.
Speaks in the Kansai dialect and carries himself in an aloof manner.
Currently reinstated as captain of Squad 5.

Captain of Squad 6.
Patriarch of the Kuchiki Clan, one of the Four Great Noble Clans and elder brother-in-law of Rukia Kuchiki.
As a nobleman, he has disciplined himself to be a role model for all Soul Reapers and rarely shows his emotions, but there is a passion in his heart.
Following the turmoil in the Soul Society, he comes to respect the pride and bond between himself and his fellow Soul Reapers.

Lieutenant of Squad 6.
Although a lieutenant, he has mastered Bankai and is as strong as any captain.
A friend of Rukia Kuchiki since their Rukon District days; the two are like family.
When Rukia's execution was decided, he built a cooperative relationship with Ichigo and worked together to rescue Rukia.

Captain of Squad 7.
Feels greatly indebted to Shigekuni Genryusai Yamamoto for taking him in.
Becomes a Soul Reaper and a member of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads to repay that debt.
Previously kept himself concealed by wearing an iron helmet but has not worn it since the turmoil in the Soul Society.

Captain of Squad 8.
Does not like fighting and enjoys drinking and wearing flashy women’s kimono.
While conspicuous by his aloof and frivolous behavior, he is actually prudent and well-liked by those around him.
When Rukia is about to be executed, he collaborated with Jushiro Ukitake to destroy the Sokyoku and crossed swords with his master, Shigekuni Genryusai Yamamoto.

A very serious and pragmatic person and the complete opposite of her captain, Shunsui Kyoraku.
Often treats Shunsui coldly, but in her heart trusts him deeply and devotes herself to being his adjutant.

A free-spirited sort who avoids troublesome tasks by forcing them on her captain, Toshiro Hitsugaya, but trusts him and looks after him.

A native of “Zaraki” in the Rukon District. Goes by the name “Kenpachi,” a name given to the strongest Soul Reaper of his generation.
He lives for sword fighting and considers enjoying battle to be the ultimate pleasure.
Wears an eye patch that absorbs and suppresses his spiritual power so that he can enjoy battling adversaries who are less skilled than himself.

A bellicose sort who enjoys fighting.
Adores Kenpachi. Chooses to remain 3rd Seat despite possessing the skill to wield Bankai.
